Download YouTube videos with sound on Windows
To save a YouTube video, copy its link, paste it into Stashy, choose MP4 and a quality such as 1080p or 4K, and press Download. Stashy fetches the best video and audio streams and merges them into one MP4, so the file always has sound.

Save a YouTube video in three steps.
Copy the link
In your browser or the YouTube app, click Share → Copy, or copy the address bar. Shorts, playlists and
youtu.belinks all work.Paste it in Stashy
Press Ctrl+V in Stashy. You'll see the thumbnail, title, channel and length, plus the qualities this video really has.
Pick and download
Choose MP4, then Best, 4K, 1080p or another size, and press Download. The file lands in
Downloads\Stashy.

Stashy puts resolution first, so the size you pick is the size you get. The codec only breaks ties.
360p to 1080p
H.264 video with AAC audio in an MP4. It plays everywhere: the Windows player, phones, TVs and video editors.
1440p and 4K
YouTube only offers these as VP9 or AV1, so the MP4 uses that video with AAC audio. It plays in the Windows 11 Media Player and VLC.
The name tells you
Every file is named with the quality you actually got, like
Title [id] - 2160p.mp4. "Best" is labelled with the real resolution too.
Only download what you're allowed to: your own videos, Creative Commons videos, or videos you have permission to save. YouTube's terms limit downloading. Responsible use.

Why do Stashy's 1440p and 4K MP4s not play in some players?
YouTube only offers 1440p and 4K as VP9 or AV1 video, so Stashy's MP4s at those sizes use VP9 or AV1 with AAC audio. They play in the Windows 11 Media Player and VLC; older players may need the free VP9 Video Extensions from the Microsoft Store. Up to 1080p, Stashy prefers H.264, which plays everywhere.
Can Stashy download YouTube Shorts?
Yes. Paste the Short's link like any other. Vertical videos are listed by their short side, so a 1080×1920 Short shows up as 1080p.
Can I download the same video in two qualities with Stashy?
Yes. Stashy puts the quality in the file name, like - 1080p.mp4 and - 2160p.mp4, so both files sit side by side. If you ask for a quality you already have, Stashy reuses the existing file instead of downloading it again.
